8. FLAT IRON
For Flat Iron Free Formula, the USE OF A FLAT IRON IS OPTIONAL. IF YOU ARE SEEKING A FLATTER, STRAIGHTER LOOK AND FEEL, YOU CAN USE ONE. If you elect to use a flat iron, it will give you a straighter look that may last longer.
For Flat Iron Free and Smooth formulas, check below to see which describes your hair type and texture the best. Take SMALL SECTIONS, concentrate at the roots, and carefully flat iron. You may notice some vapor while flat ironing which is normal and is mostly steam. A large amount of steam means that you left too much product in the hair or you did not get the hair 100% dry before flat ironing but this is not harmful.
USE A FLAT IRON THAT WILL GET UP TO THE RECOMMENDED TEMPERATURE FOR YOUR HAIR TYPE & TEXTURE TO SEAL IN THE TREATMENT. FOR BEST RESULTS, USE A FLAT IRON THAT HAS TEMPERATURE CONTROL SETTINGS. MAKE SURE YOU DO THE NECESSARY PASSES WITH YOUR FLAT IRON TO GET THAT SILKY FINISH IN YOUR HAIR.
Delicate / Fine / Bleached Blonde / Highlighted / Ombre / Damaged / White / Light Frizz
Start at the LOWEST temperature on the flat iron and gradually work up to the temperature that provides a SILKY result. You should not need more than 380°F/195°C. There is no exact number of passes. For example, some delicate hair may get SILKY at 300°F (150°C) with only 3-4 passes. You DO need to get the temperature hot enough to get that SILKY result.
Normal Texture / Colored / Curly / Wavy / Medium Frizz
Start at 380°F/195°C and gradually work up to the temperature that provides a SILKY result with NO MORE than 5 PASSES on each section.
Resistant Texture / Coarse / Virgin / Colored / Curly / Highlighted / Extreme Frizz
Start at 450°F/230°C until SILKY result with NO MORE than 8 PASSES on each section.
